About NMBCR New Mexico Breast Cancer Resources is dedicated to helping women living with breast cancer find useful information about the many aspects of a diagnosis of breast cancer. These include diagnosis, treatment options, care during treatment, genetic testing, side effects of treatment, support groups, legal issues, and life after treatment. We are including education events, fund raising events, and links to local organizations. We hope to stay current and will appreciate your help in making that happen by sending us updates about new support/treatment centers around the state. We also need you to let us know if any of the links are not working or the information is outdated. Most of the NM links relate to the Greater Albuquerque area. There are support groups and treatment centers in other cities which can be found through the PLTC site. A few others are listed from the National Alliance of Breast Cancer Organization and herSource. These sites are linked on the New Mexico Breast Cancer Resources page. Doing your own search: Although it is likely you can find most of the information you need by scanning through the NM or National Resources lists looking for likely links, sometimes you know exactly what you are looking for. For example, perhaps you are interested in radiation side effects. Choose a search engine such as Google. In the search box type "breast cancer" + radiation + "side effects" and click on Google Search. A list of resources will come up and you can look through and see which ones sound promising and then select that resource. You can keep going back to the Google list and to check out other resources. For more detailed information on effective searching, read the Search Tips on the Google page. |
